Cocktails in the Clouds: A Whimsical Wedding Pro Mixer in Portland, Oregon

Earlier this season, I had the absolute joy of planning and designing an immersive cocktail hour inspired by whimsical worlds and dream-like details—think Alice in Wonderland meets ethereal cloudland. Co-hosted with my talented photographer friend, Taylor Howie with Howie Photography, this magical evening was part of the PDXpros Happy Hour Series, a beloved Portland networking event for local wedding creatives.

As a Portland, Oregon wedding planner who thrives on immersive, outside-the-box design, I wanted to bring something fresh to the table—something that felt like stepping into a surreal daydream. I thought, let’s do Alice in Wonderland, but in the sky. The design featured 8-foot tall flowers, suspended floral installations, and dreamy, surrealist touches that felt straight out of a fantasy.

The Vibe

An immersive Portland, Oregon wedding professionals happy hour. To celebrate the wedding season and to get the creative minds working.

With delicious drinks and bites in hand, Portland’s top wedding and event professionals gathered for an evening that felt like stepping into a dream. No panels, no pressure—just an elevated space designed for connection, collaboration, and a little well-deserved indulgence. As a creative event planner in Portland, Oregon, I believe intentionality should be at the heart of every experience, and this night was a perfect reflection of that.

Inspired by the idea of being “in the clouds,” we curated a surreal, immersive environment filled with sky-high florals, cloud-like installations, and 8ft tall hand-made flowers, and disco balls, that invited guests to pause and feel. It wasn’t just about pretty aesthetics (though it was very pretty)—it was about creating a moment of magic and meaning.

We kept the inspiration flowing right alongside the drinks. Two drink vendors brought serious creativity: Intentional Espresso served up custom lattes with a steam printer that turned guest selfies into foam art (yes, really), while Merit Badge offered vibrant drinks adorned with fresh blooms—each one thoughtfully crafted to spark conversation and delight the senses.

Nights like this matter. As a Portland wedding planner who values community, creativity, and intentional design, I know how rare it is to find time to connect outside the demands of event season. These happy hours—hosted and promoted by PDXperts—are more than social events. They’re a way for our community to gather, reset, and get re-inspired.

Whether you’re an organization seeking genuine built events, or a couple searching for a wedding planner in Portland, Oregon who brings intentionality, bold design, and personality to the table—let’s talk.
